Next i set the saw depth to its maximum and cut on both sides from the end of the 4x4 down to the depth cut.
When notching 4x4 s or 6x6 s i mark all sides where the notch will be then set the saw to the depth of the notch and cut on the appropriate line.
In this case it would be the 45 degree angle line where the 2x6 will lay.
Drill thru the beam and post.

After the kerfs are cut use a chisel from the side across the grain to remove any remaining wood from the notch area.
Hammer your through bolts through your pilot holes through the beam and post and tighten with a ratchet.
