Step 3 use clamps while drilling.
How to use a rivet gun on gutters.
The mandrel the thin part of the rivet will pop off once the rivet is fully installed.
Set them very close to the place you are wanting them to be inserted into.
Make sure you are using the gun nozzle with an opening diameter that matches your rivet.
You will first want to lay out your rivets onto the gutters.
Use the rivet tool according to instructions to pull the rivet through.
To use a rivet gun start by using a standard twist drill to drill a hole in your material to fit the rivet.
Not for use with 5 32 or 3 16 steel rivets.
Pump handle as many times as needed to set the rivet.
Insert the longer part of the rivet into the gun and make sure the shorter end is already in the hole.
Insert a new rivet on one side through the hole you just drilled through the downspout sections.
Temporarily secure these rivets down with clamps.
Load the pop rivet into the gun stem first.
You will feel the resistance increasing as you squeeze.
Then attach the appropriate nozzle to your gun such as a 1 8 inch nozzle if your rivet is 1 8 inch in diameter.
A narrow riveting area should prompt a small rivet 1 8 because you do not want to drill a large hole for a thicker rivet which could weaken the gutter material in the riveted area causing failure of the gutter material under stress.
Lightweight compact size and slim nose projection allows this riveter to go wherever the work is.
After you have measured the rivets and chosen your drill bit to use don t start drilling quite yet.
It depends on your gutter brand s seam overlap.
Insert the head of the pop rivet all the way into the guide hole so the flange is flush against the outer workpiece.
